Assistant chief named head of town police department
Follows in family's footsteps

      Assistant Chief John C. Askey received a standing ovation at Monday's Amherst Town Board meeting when he was named the next police chief. "I felt very proud that Supervisor Mohan and Chief Moslow felt I had the qualifications to lead this department," he said.

Town receives $15 million from FEMA

      Nine months after the October storm, the topic remains on the front burner for the Town of Amherst. While cleanup continues, Supervisor Satish Mohan announced funding has come in to help. Last week the town received a check for $15.
