St. Benedict's softball loses in semifinals
St. Benedict's softball team ended their season with a 12-1 loss in the semifinals against St. John the Baptist.

St. Benedict's only run came in the fourth inning. Shannon Okonczak hit a single and knocked in Mary O'Rourke. Besides Okonczak and O'Rourke getting on base, Gina Maisano, Jamie Schuh, Nina Anders, Jen Krajnick and Kristy Luce were the only St. Benedict's girls able to get their bat on the ball. St. John's experienced pitcher struck out 11.
Luce pitched for St. Benedict's and struck out 10 batters in the losing effort.
Shannon DeRosiers made a nice stop on a hard-hit ball while at second base and threw the girl out at first. Krajnick and Luce also fielded balls in the infield and threw to O'Rourke at first for outs.
Carrie Deck made a stop on a hard-hit ball while in left field, preventing a St. John's player from getting a double. Liz Feeley was able to play her first game this season after recovering from a broken wrist and stopped a fly ball out to right field.
M.C. Duggan, Kyra Sweeney, Maggie Boyle and Claire Wincott also tried to keep St. John's from scoring.
