Summer Empire State Games tryouts slated

Tryouts for the Western Region's teams for the 30th annual Empire State Games are nearing their conclusion, but there are still a few sports where tryouts are currently being conducted.

The games will be held in Westchester County July 25-29.

To participate, you must be a New York State resident and a resident of your region as of May 1.

Below is a listing, by sport, with gender, dates, times and locations for the tryouts. However, all dates, times and locations are subject to change. For more information, contact the regional office at 836-3910.

Open Division

+ Athletics: Track and Field (MW): June 16; 9 a.m.; Brockport State College; Deca (M) and Hepa (W); June 16-17; 9 a.m.; Orchard Park High School [Bring pole, shot, discus, javelin and starting blocks]

+ Rowing (MW): June 23; noon; Genesee Waterways Center
