Firehawks 16U rout Eden

The Connie Mack Firehawks 16U defeated Eden 16U, 11-1, in a Metro Girls Softball League.

Pitcher Jessica Banning threw a one-hitter and seven strikeouts and fielded two outs to first. At the plate, she hit a single and scored a run. Catcher Jordan Dudish caught a pop-fly for an out and hit three singles, walked, and scored three runs. First baseman Kaitlin Mergler caught two fly balls for outs and caught six fielded balls for outs. She also walked three times and had a run. Second baseman Kristy Luce caught two fly balls for outs and fielded an out to first. She also singled and had an RBI.

Third baseman Kara Stein caught a fly ball for an out and fielded an out to first. She also walked. Shortstop Abby DeFrancis caught a fly ball for an out, fielded an out to first, and had a single, sacrifice bunt, walk, run, and RBI at the plate. Left fielder Mariah Mergler fielded a ball to third base for an out and hit a ball deep into right field for a home run. Mergler also walked.
