Youths take joy ride in golf carts

(Editors note: The Bee's police blotter is a sampling of unusual, sometimes humorous calls received by the police department. It is not intended to be a complete record of all incidents reported.)

Friday, June 1

+ On Monroe Drive a group of youths was reportedly running between houses throwing fireworks.

+ A Pino Verde Lane resident complained that a group of 10 high school age males were walking down the street beating mailboxes with their fists.

+ On Maple Road someone reported that a driver in a gold Intrepid poured beer into a glass and started drinking it.

Saturday, June 2

+ On Main Street a man in his 40s was wearing Army type clothing and had been sitting in the same spot for more than hour. He reportedly was screaming and kicking his feet at people who walked by. The party, who had a Kentucky ID, was transported to a hotel.

+ A North Bailey Avenue business caught a suspect on tape stealing a bicycle. Reportedly he had just filled out an application with all his personal information on it. The bike was recovered.

+ At the Glen Park three boys were jumping into the falls. Their parents responded to pick them up and all were strongly advised by police.

+ A Wayne Avenue resident was concerned that someone was dumping sewage or some other type of material into the creek behind his home. No one was dumping, the stuff in question was run off into the creek from a major water break on John Glenn Drive.

Sunday, June 3

+ A Transit Road restaurant employee reported that a woman in the drive-through spit at the window and punched it.

+ A man cut off from drinks at a Niagara Falls Boulevard bar started yelling at employees and left in a vehicle. The area was checked for the man in question.

+ A man reported to the U-Haul Company Moving Centers on Niagara Falls Boulevard that he left his wallet in a U-Haul he had returned. The U-Haul had already been rented out and the people renting it returned the wallet.

+ Police were called about a sick bat that was under a basket in a church on Main Street.

Monday, June 4

+ On Millersport Highway a man in a white T-shirt and shorts climbed through a window into the garage. The subject was reportedly still in the house. Police reported it was a 12-year-old who had locked himself out.

+ A Kensington Avenue resident reported that her neighbor pulls up her plants and trees. Police advised all parties.

+ Someone was reportedly shot with a BB gun by the manager of a Transit Road store. One person at Cole Muffler was in custody.

+ A San Fernando Lane resident reported a large snapping turtle on the front lawn. The reptile was relocated to the pond.

Tuesday, June 5

+ The owner of a Cornell Avenue apartment called police after attempting for a week to get into the apartment to show it and the tenant refused to open door.

+ Someone reported that a teenager was climbing on the side of a building on Eggert Road with what appeared to be a handgun.

+ Two females were taken to police headquarters after attempting to return stolen property to a Niagara Falls Boulevard store.

+ Two poodles were reportedly running loose in the intersection of Youngs Road and Sheridan Drive. The dogs were caught by the owner.

Wednesday, June 6

+ On American Campus Drive someone complained that one of her roommates moved out and has had a male living in the apartment for the past week without telling the other roommates. No one knew his name.

+ A Delta Road resident complained that a neighbor yelled at his children about a Frisbee that landed in the neighbor's lawn. All were advised.

+ Police were called to Fairgreen Drive where a motorist blew through a red light, almost hitting a child. A Sweet Home school bus was involved and the driver was arguing with the other driver.

Thursday, June 7

+ A building on Flint Road that is being renovated lost power again, leaving people stuck in an elevator.

+ Someone called police about two young males that were smoking in the playground area on North Forest Road.

+ A Clarence woman reported she misplaced her vehicle after attending a party on Casey Road. She ended up on Jeffrey Drive at some point and was unable to locate her car.

+ Two carts were reported missing from a Smith Road golf course and were roaming the nearby neighborhood.

+ Someone complained about youths playing hockey on the tennis courts on Main Street. Reportedly there was nothing to enforce.
