Summer program set for Boys & Girls' clubs The Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo will run its Summer Extravaganza program from Thursday, July 5 through Friday, Aug. 31. Programming and field trips are based on weekly themes that include science, diversity, unity in the community, art and summer celebration. Registered youth will participate in a variety of programs including, but not limited to, creative writing, visual and performing arts, reading, staying fit and healthy eating, Job Ready, swimming, community service, field trips and an end of the summer celebration. "We all know that young people want to have fun during the summer and parents may want to have their kids doing something meaningful during the summer months," said Diane Rowe, chief professional officer of Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo. "This is why we offer a variety of programs and field trips that are not only extremely fun for the kids, but enriching as well." The program will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Parents in the Amherst area interested in signing up their children can do so at the Amherst Clubhouse, Daemen College campus, 4380 Main St., Amherst.
