.I knew it would happen. As soon as they saw it in print, people began to drag out the branches and, in some cases, two-foot sections of trees cut from their backyards and expect it to be picked up yesterday. Hello, people; you are not the only resident in Amherst. Thousands of trees need to be trimmed and, in some cases, re-ribboned because people removed many of the red ribbons. So with that added and thousands of trees yet to be cut down, you can expect this to take all summer, perhaps even into fall. Patience is a virtue; try to abide by it. They are doing all they can.

.I live on Sherbrooke and I am quite surprised at the refuse that has been allowed to be in my yard for two months. I have it out at the curb, and I've called many people, and they tell me they don't know when it will be picked up. I think it's appalling.

.Amherst Supervisor Satish Mohan's arrogance has reached a new level. Most recently, in his Amherst Bee article, Mohan explained that he wanted to have a $10 tax on each house to pay for the expense of local campaigns. I think that would be a travesty; $10 is a lot of money to listen to blathering, would-be politicians on your own money.

.What happened to the intersection of Maple and Forest? Maple Road is so very confusing that I don't know which lane to drive in. There are about seven lanes, none of them being wide enough to drive a car, especially when heading east to Transit Road. Maple and Forest is absolutely unbelievable. I see where our county tax dollars are going.

.Well, here it is the second week in June, and we still haven't received our totes. They should have been here by the end of May; maybe we'll get them by the end of June.

.Thanks to the person on Garrison Road who complained about detainees working for the town to clear out the debris in the creek, residents on Lehn Springs are now responsible for bringing out the debris from the creek side to the street at their own expense. Little was it known detainees had been working with the town since November, and nothing happened. Were you afraid that your petunias might be taken?

.I wonder how many folks who complain about high gas prices are daily seated in their SUVs and pickups in line waiting to order their coffee on the way to work. Think about the gas wasted, the exhaust polluting the air and the time idled away while waiting.

.I love the new garbage totes. The lift-up tops are easy, and the totes are heavy enough so they don't get knocked over. This was a great idea.

.The grounds over at North Forest look terrible. Whoever is doing the mowing is doing a terrible job. They are not weed-whacking, there's no edging, the sidewalk is blocked by branches, and you can't walk around North Forest on the sidewalk. The place just looks a shabby mess and very uninviting.

.This is the third week that I have seen an emergency vehicle on Hopkins have difficulty due to tree debris. When is the tree debris going to be picked up, and why isn't it off the shoulder, so that vehicles can move over for emergency vehicles? Get the debris picked up.
