Students among top in the state

Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth recently honored the 2007 special academic award winners based on testing among the most academically gifted students in the county.

More than 1,900 students were honored at awards ceremonies throughout New York. Local students were honored on June 2 at the University at Rochester.

In the SAT/ACT State Awards for High Honors Grades Seventh- Eighth category, Shamika Gokhale of Heim Middle School; Karn Mishra, of Casey Middle School; and Bryan He, Chongiin Kim, Sangyoon, Shaaranya Pillai, Sarah Shafik and Nicholas Shea of Transit Middle School were recognized.
