Business granted womenowned status

Maintenance & Management Associates, an Amherst-based commercial janitorial and maintenance company, has received official certification as a Woman-Owned Business Enterprise with the State of New York.

This newly acquired status can be of great value to contractors in meeting state regulations, which require the utilization of minority and women-owned businesses for a certain percentage of contracted work, the company said. MMA can now provide janitorial services for state agencies, contractors and corporations fulfilling these requirements.

Maintenance & Management Associates was incorporated in 1979. Maripat Downey joined MMA in 1987 and is currently president.
