Twins rout Central Amherst Astros

The Mel Ott Twins defeated the Central Amherst Astros, 20-3, in a junior 13-14-year-old COMMRAC baseball game.

The Twins' Sean McCarthy batted 4 for 4, including a single, double, and home run and also scored three runs and pitched three shutout innings with seven strikeouts.

Ryan Scott went 3 for 4, including three singles and pitched a scoreless final inning in relief for the Twins.

Jack McGuire threw an inning for the Twins and went 2 for 3 at the plate and scored three times.

The Twins' strong defensive showing by catcher Reid Mankowski, Brian McCall, Brad Fedele, and Matt Palombo on infield duty, along with call-ups Luke Federici and Tony Marra, held the Astros to three runs on seven hits. Ian Snyder provided a hard hit double to the fence for the Twins in the first inning.

The Astros got hits from Pete Murray, Brian Teney, Jack Murray, Zach Garlick, and two hits from Jeff Lyons.

The league is comprised of six teams from Mel Ott Little League, two teams from Connie Mack Little League, a team from Kensington Little League, and three teams from Central Amherst Little League.
