Ken West offense too much for Sweet Home

Sweet Home's season ended with a game they would like to forget.

The Lady Panthers, seeded ninth in the Section VI Class AA tournament, lost at top-seed Kenmore West, 14-0, on Tuesday, May 29.

"Ken West hit the ball really well," said Sweet Home coach Karen Johel. "They found all possible holes. We started out with bases loaded in the top of the first inning and couldn't get runners past third after that."

Already ahead 2-0, Kenmore West exploded for seven runs in the third inning. Jenna Rickan tripled and Holly Prysbysz smacked a home run. Sweet Home was held to five hits - Amanda Cannizzo (2 for 3), Kelly Weber (1 for 3), Carol Skoney ( 1 for 2), and Krista Prentice (1 for 2, walk).

Sweet Home finishes 11-15 and loses only Prentice, who started at first base, to graduation. Cannizzo led the team in batting average for the fifth straight season with .538. She also was tops on the team in all major offensive categories - slugging percentage (.813), runs (20), RBIs (23), home runs (one), triples (four), doubles (11), and hits (43). She also had a 1.000 percent fielding percentage and was the team's top pitcher. Jill Reeser was second on the team in batting average (.309) and hits (21).
