Robert C. Austin, retired vice-president of Strate Welding Supply Co.

Robert C. Austin, a retired vice-president of Strate Welding Supply Co. in Buffalo, died Saturday, May 26, 2007 in St. Petersburg, Fla. Mr. Austin resided in Williamsville from 1969 to 1989.

Born in Gouverneur, N.Y., he attended high school in Gouverneur and Oswego State Teachers College. He served in the Air Force during World War II, working in aircraft welding and mechanics.

Mr. Austin worked 20 years for Strate Welding Supply, retiring in 1989.

He was a member of the American Welders Society and the Lions Club.

Mr. Austin is survived by his wife, Alice M.; four daughters, Roberta Jackson of Arlington, Texas, Nancy Chumney of Moorestown, N.J., Becky Zupancic of Allison Park, Pa., and Laurie Austin of West Chester, Pa.; a brother, Grant, and a sister, Mary Robillard, both of Gouverneur and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a date yet-to-be-determined this summer in Moorestown, N.J.
