Grand-slam comedy

Kaleidoscope Theatre Productions' "Rounding Third" features Keith Wharton and Matthew Slazak from June 8-23 at the Marie Maday Theatre.
Kaleidoscope Theatre Productions will be taking theatregoers out to the ballgame with the comedy "Rounding Third," June 8-23 at the Marie Maday Theatre at Canisius College.

"Rounding Third," by Richard Dresser and directed by Kaleidoscope Theatre's Artistic Director Beth Gerardi, is the hilarious and tumultuous journey of two little league coaches through an entire season - from their tentative meeting to the climactic championship game.

Don (Keith A. Wharton) is the rough, blue-collar, win-at-all costs veteran coach, and Michael (Matthew F. Slazak) is the newcomer assistant coach, a corporate executive who's never played baseball before. Over the course of exhilarating victories, heartbreaking defeats and interminable rainouts, the two men battle over how to lead the team.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and 3 and 7:30 p.m. Saturdays. Tickets are $12 for adults, and $8 for seniors and students, and are available by calling 629-8548.
