Domres wins Coniglio award

Amherst Central senior Christine Domres has been awarded the 2007 Angela Y. Coniglio Memorial Scholarship.

The $850 scholarship is awarded annually to a female student who has demonstrated athletic ability, sportsmanship, persistence and an interest in education.

The award is in memory of Coniglio, a 1984 graduate of Amherst Central, who at the time, was the school's all-time athletics points holder, a multi-sport athlete and a recipient of the Ed Baer Award. She was later inducted into the Amherst Athletes Hall of Fame.

After her death in 1996, her family established the award to be given to a senior girl who they believed reflected Coniglio's characteristics.

Domres, played on the lacrosse and field hockey teams, plans to study special education at Fredonia State College.
