Carpet Castle continues to offer quick service with new location

Bill Katz may not have known much about flooring when he took over Carpet Castle in 1975, but now he has plenty of experience and two store locations that serve most of Western New York.

"I started from scratch," he said, noting he stepped up to head the company after his brother-in-law passed away.

Though originally located at Sheridan Drive and Eggert Road in Amherst, Carpet Castle's 15,000-square-foot warehouse opened at 2926 Transit Road in West Seneca in 1988. Katz opened a new 4,000-square-foot showroom at 7350 Transit Road in Williamsville about two months ago.

"We got bigger," he said of his company, which offers a full line of linoleum, laminate, vinyl and hardwood flooring, as well as traditional, Oriental and contemporary area rugs.

Katz noted that hardwood is the most reliable type of flooring and can last 30 or 40 years.

As its name denotes, Carpet Castle carries more than 300 types of carpeting and is the exclusive Western New York dealer of Mohawk Floorscapes. There are only 450 Floorscape dealers nationwide. Each store was selected by Mohawk to represent its best and most complete product lines.

Though Carpet Castle carries a wide range of flooring, cleaning supplies and installation equipment, Katz feels customer service has been key to the success of his business over the past 30 years.

"We offer quick service and availability," he said.

Carpet Castle services wholesale, retail and commercial customers, and can install any flooring within about a week. Items that are in stock may be delivered and installed sooner, according to Katz.

"We have most goods in stock," he said. "If not, we can have it within seven to 10 days for installation."

Carpet Castle also offers a decorator service, where staff bring samples to homes and provide a free estimate.

Various financing options are available.

Both locations are open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call Carpet Castle at 675-9191.
