Amherst Skating Club places third at festival

The Amherst Skating Club and 21 other figure skating clubs from around Western New York, Canada, and the Finger Lake region came together to compete at the 19th annual Spring Skate Festival sponsored by The Skating Club of WNY on May 19-20 at Holiday Twin Rinks in Cheektowaga.

The Amherst Skating Club placed third overall with a total of 262 points. Points were awarded based on the individual skater's placement, with first place given the highest number of points. Events ranged from tots to senior in the following categories - freestyle, compulsory moves-in-the-field, basic skills, spins, jumps, dance, music interpretation, and showcase.
