Robert H. Reif, 77, of Amherst, a retired New York Telephone Company supervisor, died Monday, May 14, 2007, in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Williamsville.
Born in Buffalo, Mr. Reif was a graduate of Kensington High School and played on the school's 1948 baseball team that went to the New York State Championship.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded a Bronze Star.
Mr. Reif worked for the New York Telephone Co. from 1953 until retiring in 1985. He began as a repairman and rose to supervisor.
He was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, Kensington Alumni Association, and George F. Lamm American Legion Post No. 622.
He was an avid supporter and member of SPCA of Erie County and was a model railroad enthusiast. He also enjoyed carpentry and woodworking. He was an avid sports fan, including bowling and golf, and enjoyed his Boxer dogs for 57 years.
Mr. Reif is survived by his wife, the former Ruth I. Pfau; a son, Karl-Eric; three stepchildren and six step great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Monday, May 21 in Amigone Funeral Home (Tonawanda Chapel).
