Mark M. Jasen, deputy town attorney

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Wednesday, May 30, in Christ the King Church for Mark M. Jasen Sr., Amherst deputy town attorney for the past year.

Mr. Jasen died May 23, 2007.

A graduate of Canisius High School and Canisius College, he earned his law degree from Creighton University. He was a partner in the Buffalo law firm of Jasen & Jasen, PC.

Mr. Jasen provided legal counsel to the Erie County Legislature on a broad range of issues for 13 years. He also was outside counsel for the Erie County Sheriffs Department, the Allegany County Board of Elections and the Niagara Falls City Council.

An attorney admitted to practice in New York State since 1976, he was also admitted to practice in the U.S Court of Appeals 2nd Circuit; U.S Court of Appeals 6th Circuit, and U.S. District Court Western District of New York.

His wife, the former Patricia Healy, is deceased. His father, the late Matthew J. Jasen, was a New York State Court of Appeals judge from 1967 to 1985.

Surviving are three sons, Mark M. Jr., Daniel E. and Kevin; a brother, Peter; two sisters, Christine MacLeod and Carol Sampson; and three grandchildren.

Arrangements were made by the Dietrich Funeral Home.
