Jog for the Jake set for Father's Day

The sixth annual Jog for the Jake 5K Race will be held at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, June 17 in Delaware Park near the Meadow Road entrance.

The race is held in memory of the late Dr. Lawrence D. Jacobs, a researcher in the field of multiple sclerosis.

Runners, walkers and wheelchair riders of all abilities are encouraged to participate. Water stations will be provided along the course.

For those interested in being timed during the race, ChampionChip technology, in which a chip attaches to the runner's shoe, will provide results immediately following the race.

There will also be a children's race at the Nichols School for ages 1 through 10.

The day will culminate with a postrace party.

Entry fees for the race are $20 if received before June 9 and $25 afterward. Register online at www.jogforthejake.org or by mailing to Jog for the Jake, P.O. Box 338, Buffalo, NY 14205.

Preregistration and race packet pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16. Registration the day of the race will be held at the Nichols Amherst Street Campus at 7:30 a.m.
