Rabies clinics scheduled in Erie County The Erie County Department of Health, along with the Niagara Frontier Veterinarian Society and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, will provide free rabies vaccines at locations throughout Western New York, where Amherst residents can take their pets. The schedule is as follows: 5-7 p.m. May 30, 8448 Gutekunst Road, Colden; 5-7 p.m. Aug. 22, 2170 Bowen Road, Elma; 2-4 p.m. Aug. 29, 205 Ensminger Road, Tonawanda; 5-7 p.m. Sept. 5, 2005 Lakeview Road, Lakeview; 2-4 p.m. Sept. 12, 999 Broadway, Buffalo; and 5-7 p.m. Sept. 19, 39 South Ave., West Seneca. The department warns of an anticipated large number of rabies cases in wild animals this year. If an animal is bitten, the owner should call the department immediately at 858-7690 or during evenings and weekends at 898-4225. Pets brought to the vaccinations must be leashed or crated. If possible, bring a copy of the pet's most recent vaccination record. |
