Towne Players turns 50

Looking for an evening of affordably priced, high-quality family entertainment? Look no farther than the Sheridan Parkside Community Center in Tonawanda, home of the Towne Players theater group.

The Towne Players opened its 50th season of bringing live theater to Western New York with a production of "Ravenscroft," for which the group garnered several awards from the Theatre Association of New York State.

"In many ways, we are a training ground for people who want to learn, grow and move on," Glen Jumper, a trustee of the group said. He noted that the group has seen a number of members go on to perform in New York City and other locales after getting their start with the Towne Players.
