Meetings workshop for union officials The U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Labor Management Standards will sponsor a one-day workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, June 1 at the Niagara Center, 130 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo. The program is designed to help union officials in Western New York meet their record-keeping and reporting requirements. The Labor Management Reporting and Disclosure Act establishes certain rights for union members and contains provisions to ensure union democracy and financial integrity. These include requirements for unions to maintain records used to prepare their annual reports filed with the government and requirements and procedures for filling those reports. Business First of Buffalo plans lobster fest Business First of Buffalo will host a lobster fest from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. Thursday, June 21 at Woodlawn Beach, located at Routes 5 and 179 in Hamburg. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Greater Niagara Frontier Council Boy Scouts. Lobster fest will feature a beach party, bonfire, live music and a steak and lobster dinner.
