Revolution U-12 outdoor soccer lose first game of year All good things eventually come to an end. For the Amherst Revolution U-12 girls soccer club, it came in a closely contested 2-1 loss to the Delaware Crunch on Tuesday, May 15. Counting their indoor season the Revolution had a 14-game winning streak broken. Even in defeat, the Revolution played a strong game full of tenacious defense and good ball movement but were unable to cash in some good scoring opportunities. The Revolution goalkeeping tandem of Christine Murphy and Cathryn Mahon made several spectacular saves with good aggressive playing. Midway through the first half, the Crunch scored the first goal for either team in the game. Mahon, who played center midfield in the first half, made a beautiful pass to Carissima Cutrona, who put a strong left foot shot past the Crunch goalkeeper. The first half ended 1-1 and was filled with strong passing and ball skills by Revolution players Nika Berrafato, Morgaine Houston, Kaitlyn Neese, Kaitlyn Walsh, Sara Eichhorn, Katie Cohen, Alyssa Cartwright, Alicia Girard, Hannah Dreger, Annie Garcia, and Angela Sobotka. Throughout the second half, the Revolution kept the pressure on the Crunch goalkeeper, who made several unbelievable stops to keep the game tied. Unfortunately for the Revolution, the Crunch scored halfway through the second half and was able to hold on for the victory. |
