The A Flight could not have gotten any closer in last week's

Sheridan Park Friday Golf Club, as the top three competitors all finished with the same adjusted score.

Sue Robillard (46-9-37), Jeri Eberhardt (48-11-37) and Peggy Nogaro (50-13-37) rounded out the top three.

In the B Flight, Rose Bartha (49-15-34) took first, followed by Marian Reo (51-14-37) and Marion Mingle (54-15-39).

In the C Flight, Thelma Frauenhofer (53-18-35) had the top scored, followed by Carole Orsolits (55-19-36) and Elsie Schreiber (55-18-37).

In the D Flight, Eileen Leary (56-20-36) posted the top score, followed by Ann Drapo (62-25-37) and Terry Hulub (61-21-40).

The Park School of Buffalo boys tennis team won Monsignor Martin Association Division II with a 6-0 record. Park was 8-2 overall.

St. Christopher's defeated SS. Peter & Paul in a JV soccer game held on April 29. After a scoreless first half, the SSPP offense came alive in the second half, led by Alec Cowe, Cameron Sedia and Natalie Reesor, for two goals. St. Christopher's scored on a late goal for the win. Strong games were also played by Allison McKenna, Madalyn Mueller and Gabe Lopez. Anthony Podgorsak was tough in net.

Jerry Morkisz used a 5-iron to sink a hole in one on the 166-yard third hole at Audubon Golf Course on Tuesday, May 8.

Larry Finkelstein of East Amherst and Brian Langenfeld of Snyder tied for third place in the open sabre event at the A Little Cut and Thrust Tournament held Saturday, May 12 at the Fencing Center of Buffalo.

Finkelstein, defeated Ryan Toth in the quarterfinals, 15-12, before losing to eventual champion, Robert Smith, in the semifinals, 15-12.

Langenfeld, dispatched Tyler Fratantonio, 15-4, in the quarterfinals, before falling to Scott Dewey in the semis, 15-14.

Amherst resident Lydia Penberthy, representing the Niagara Level 6 from Gleason's School of Gymnastics, placed ninth on balance beam in 9.025 in the age 12 division at the New York State Championship held in Orchard Park on May 12-13. She also scored 9.20 on vault and had an all-around score of 35.525. Penberthy attends Sweet Home Middle School.

Abigail DeCicco of the Niagara gymnasts from Gleason's Gymnastics led the team in the 6-to-8 year old division at The Dare to Be Great Games in Rochester on May 6.

DeCicco, a second grader at St. Christopher's School, placed fifth on bars with a score of 9.25, sixth on balance beam with 9.325, and eighth on floor exercise with a score of 9.075. Her efforts earned her fifth place all-around with a score of 36.550.

The Level 4 team from Niagara took third place in the team competition with a final score of 186.60.

Williamsville East High School graduate Mike Faracca earned the Hobart College football team's Rookie Award at the 42nd Annual Block H Awards Banquet held on Monday, April 30.

The defensive tackle had an exceptional first year, playing in all 10 games and tallying 28 tackles. Faracca registered a career high six tackles (one solo) in a 19-14 win over Worcester Polytechnic Institute and posted five takedowns in a 31-21 win over Rochester Institute of Technology.

Katie Lyons, a Williamsville North High School graduate and Williamsville native, earned State University of New York Athletic Conference second team honors in women's lacrosse for Buffalo State College.

Lyons, a junior social work major, is a first-time honoree and finished third on the team in scoring with 38 points, while recording 26 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers. The junior midfielder also set a new school record for assists in a single season with 15 helpers, surpassing the previous record of 14 set in 2003.
