East students excel in state business leaders competition

Members of the Williamsville East High School Future Business Leaders Association won three first-place awards at the recent state Future Business Leaders competition.

Senior Adam Korn took first place in the Future Business Leader contest and junior Lisa Chen finished first in parliamentary procedure.

The team of Sarah Oh, Helen Oh, Lisa Chen and Peter Bouris took first place in the parliamentary procedure team competition.

Korn was awarded one of three humanitarian awards among the 5,000 state members for his leadership and involvement in numerous community-service projects.

The East Future Business Leaders Association won sixth place in the chapter of the year competition out of 168 chapters across the state. And Chen was elected parliamentarian of the state group for the 2007-08 school year.

Those who finished in the top three at the statewide competition have qualified for the national competition being held in Chicago in late June.

Other awards included: Chen, second place in career and financial management. Laura Lederhouse, second place for word processing II.

Helen Oh, second place in parliamentary procedure.

Sarah Oh, second place in banking and financial systems and third place in parliamentary procedure.

Raghav Phadke, second place in technology concepts and second place in business calculations.

Priya Singhal, second place for business ownership and third place for accounting I.

Heewon Yang, third place in cyber security.
