Stumpf's Level 5 sticks routines in Rochester

Stumpf's Level 5 gymnastics team recently excelled at the Dare to Be Great Games held at the Bright Raven Gymnastics Center. Members of the team, pictured from left, are: Jackie Schactner, Lacey Woite, Kaily Martens, Miranda Roberson, Katie Uba, and Maddie Meyer.
Six of the Level 5 girls from Stumpf's Gymnastics Center traveled to Rochester, N.Y. to compete in the Dare to Be Great Games held at the Bright Raven Gymnastics Center.

The Stumpf girls had a banner meet, with each gymnast sticking all her routines for the first time this season. The concentration paid off as the girls combined for 13 medals in the event finals and four girls placed in the all-around competition.

Miranda Roberson and Katie Uba of Amherst competed in the 7-8 year old division and finished third and fourth place, respectively. Roberson, whose all-around scored a 35.975, completed a strong balance beam routine that earned a 9.375 and a silver medal. She also performed a tight uneven bars routine that placed fourth (9.100). Uba, who scored 35.900 all-around, also fared well in the event finals. Uba won a pair of bronze medals on uneven bars (9.200) and beam (9.250) with two of her most well-executed routines of the season.

In the 9-year old division, Snyder's Lacey Woite scored a solid 36.650 all-around score and won bronze. In the event finals, Woite won silver on uneven bars (9.450), and bronze on floor exercise (9.400) with her best routine of the year. She was fourth on vault.

Kaily Martens of Cheektowaga was third all-around in the 10 year-old-division with a score of 36.550. Martens also won silver on uneven bars (9.300), and bronze on a beautiful vault that earned a 9.00. She was fourth on beam.

Eleven-year-old Maddie Meyer of Williamsville had her best meet of the season, earning career highs on uneven bars (8.80), and in all-around (34.125). Amherst's Jackie Schactner competed in the 12-year old division and earned a personal-best 34.325 all-around score. She won a seventh place medal on uneven bars (8.90) and an eighth place medal on vault (8.70).

Martens, Roberson, Uba and Woite, joined by teammates Mackenzie Donner and Samantha Maniccia, will travel to Long Island, N.Y. to compete in the New York State Gymnastics finals held May 18-20. Kim Black, Denise Weisner and Vicky Kaiser coach the Level 5 team.
