Connie Mack 16U Firehawks defeat Lou Gehrig

The Connie Mack 16U Firehawks defeated the Lou Gehrig Lasers, 7-2.

Abby DeFrancis pitched and threw five strikeouts, allowed five hits, and walked another two batters. She also helped her cause with two singles at the plate.

Catcher Kara Stein (two singles, walk, RBI, run scored) threw a runner out attempting to steal third. Courtney Smith (single, run) fielded a ground ball for an out. Kristy Luce (two walks, run) caught two fly balls for outs and fielded another two outs at first. Emily Thompson (three singles, walk, RBI, run) caught three fly balls for outs and fielded a ball to first for an out.

Jessica Banning (two walks, fielder's choice, three runs scored) caught a fly ball for an out, threw a runner out at first, fielded a grounder for an out at third and threw out a runner attempting to steal home. Left fielder Nicole Okonczak threw a runner out at third. Mariah Mergler (singles, two RBIs) and Kaitlyn Mergler (sacrifice RBI) caught two fly balls in right field for outs.
