North girls defeat Lancaster Williamsville North's outdoor girls track team improved to 2-1 in ECIC Division I after defeating Lancaster, 80-61, on Tuesday, May 8. North swept the 100 hurdles (Sarah Mikulski, 15.4; Ashley Redino, 15.8; Amy Loud, 16.2), 100 dash (Loud, 13.2; Mikulski, 13.3; Michelle Bauman, 13.4) and 200-meters (Loud, 27.2; Jessica Little, 27.4; Raven Baxter, 29.5). The Lady Spartans took first and second in the long jump (Baxter, 15-0; Emily Curry, 14-4¾), high jump (Curry, 4-8; Kim Schueler, 4-8), and 400 dash (Kim Dohn, 1:02.6; Meredith Kirby, 1:03.4) and first and third in the 400 hurdles (Redino, 1:12.3; Caitlin Triantafillou, 1:19.2). The team took second and third in the pole vault (Redino, 8-0; Sarah Khan, 8-0) and triple jump (Curry, 31-9½; Kirby, 31-5). North's 4x400 relay of Bauman, Dohn, Lauren Triantafillou and Kirby and the 4x100 relay of Little, Mikulski, Redino and Loud won in 4:27.9 and 52.6, respectively. Lydia Yemchuk placed second in the discus (85-7) and Melissa Dobmeier and Lauren Triantafillou came in third in the 1500 (5:45.1) and 800 (2:40.2), respectively. North tied for 10th place at the Starpoint Team Challenge held on Saturday, May 12 at Starpoint High School. Each event was combined scores. Mikulski and Redino set a new meet record in the 100 hurdles, winning with a combined time of 32.70. Mikulski was second in a 15.90 FAT. Redino was fourth in a 16.80 FAT. North was second in the 400 in 2:05.29. Dohn came in fifth at 1:02.32. Kirby was eighth in 1:02.97. Kirby (28.05) and Little (28.74) teamed to come in fifth in the 200 dash. Mikulski and Little was seventh in the 100 dash with a 27.03 FAT. Mikulski was 17th (13.59) and Little was 22nd (13.71). In the 3000, Julia Marcusa (29th 14:09.90) and Stephanie Kranz (30th, 15:16.60) came in thirteenth overall in 29:26.50. In the steeplechase, Alex Nero (18th, 9:48.3) and Schueler (tenth, 9:08.4) combined for fifteenth. Yemchuk (26-1) and Laura Lonski (24) was sixteenth overall in the shot put, throwing 50-1¾. Dobmeier (31st, 5:44.16) and Sana Khan (43rd, 6:17.60) combined for nineteenth in the mile. |
