Highway Department will begin brush pickup Monday

The Town of Amherst's annual spring brush pickup will begin on May 21.

The Highway Department will collect large piles of logs, brush, and tree stumps only. All material must be placed out at the start of that week. No mixed piles containing lumber, concrete, railroad ties or nonorganic materials will be collected. Leaves, small trimmings and other yard waste should be put in containers, paper yard-waste bags or bundled for collection by Waste Management on a weekly basis.

The crews will make several passes through the town and completion is expected four weeks following the May 21 start date.

Highway Superintendent Bob Anderson said he is still waiting for Erie County to submit a CD with the locations of the trees marked for removal. A date for removal has not been set.
