St. Leo the Great School in Amherst named the following fourth-grade pupils to the honor roll and merit awards for the third marking period: first honors, Caterina Fiorotto and Cheyenne Freely; second honors, Peter Evancho and Robert Siegler; merit roll, Alexandra Kamieniarz, Kenneth Meshlovitz and Emma Ruggiero.

St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute's Jazz Lab band was recently awarded performance trophies at the Disney World High School Jazz Ensemble Competition. The Jazz Lab Band received a gold Mickey statue for scoring a 90 or better and receiving a superior rating. Amherst residents competing with the band were Michael Duggan, Eric Zapalowski, Garrett Weinholtz, Joe Giordano and Andrew Seier.
