After receiving a forfeit win over Holy Angels from last week, Sacred Heart recorded wins over Buffalo Seminary, Park School and Mount Mercy. In a match played on Monday, April 30 at Buffalo Seminary, the Sharks won a hard fought match 4-1. Kathryn Przybyla and Courtney Conway notched singles wins as did the teams of Deb Matteliano and Emily Rogers at first doubles and Ashley Illuzzi and Margo Casciano at second doubles. Other fine efforts included exhibition wins by Nora Balon, Kelly Mroz, Samantha Keyon and Karen Schuster. Sacred Heart traveled to Park School on Thursday, May 3 and continued to roll with a 5-0 victory. Przybyla, Conway, Matteliano, Rogers, Illuzzi and Margo Casciano all recorded wins and remained undefeated for the season. Kristen Fish also won a convincing match at first singles. Additional wins were recorded by Katie Ostrander and Karen Schuster. On Friday, May 4, the Sharks traveled to Chestnut Ridge Park to face Mt. Mercy. Fish and Przybyla lost only a few games in recording outstanding wins at first and second singles, respectively, while Matteliano moved up to take her first at match at third singles. Balon and Casciano teamed for the time at second doubles as did Illuzzi and Rogers at first doubles. Both teams won their matches easily for a 5-0 Sharks victory. Schuster, Ostrander, Mary Beth Pandolfino and Keyon all played well again in exhibition play. This week, the Sharks try to extend their undefeated season when they host O'Hara and travel to Holy Angels and Nardin. |
