Mel Ott Athletics blank Dodgers in 'A' opener Jacob Ohman, Joseph Janish and Christopher Stryker of the Athletics each threw two scoreless innings and combined for 16 strikeouts in a 4-0 season opening win over the Dodgers. Joseph Janish added two hits on offense while John McGregor and Kale Klis each contributed an RBI single. Jacob Ohman made a great catch at first base to end a fifth inning offensive effort by the Dodgers. For the Dodgers, Casey Gardon threw two solid innings and Derek Clemons added two hits in a valiant effort. Red Sox 11, Mets 2 Andre' Torrico and Bam Ruggiero each pitched two innings while Abel Tefera and Patrick Gourlay provided the offense for the Red Sox. 'AAA' Baseball Cardinals 10, Blue Jays 7 With the weather finally cooperating, the Meld Bott "AAA" Cardinals won their first game of the year on Thursday, May 3. In a five-inning game that was shortened by curfew, the Cardinals jumped out to an early lead 9-0 lead and hung on to win. The Cardinals were led by Brock Prizel and Evan Wysocki, who both scored twice in the first two innings. Ryan Burns had a pair of hits, three RBIs and was named Cardinals' player of the game. Down big early, the Blue Jays showed some toughness as they had a huge seven-run third inning to close the gap. Jeff White had a pair of hits for the Blue Jays and Steven Patterson shut down the Cardinals with eight strikeouts over the final three innings. The Blue Jays defense played tough at the end to give them a chance. The Cardinals' Sam Cimato struck out five and Andrew White closed out the game with a six-strikeout performance to give them the win. 'Minor' Baseball Reds 7, Blue Jays 6 Ian Cherico went 3 for 3 at the plate. Curtis Miller had two hits. Will Gaulin opened up pitching and Chase Ford and Ian Cherico came in relief. Reds 10, Mets 1 Dominic Miceli hit a standup double. Sam Balesteri started the game with strong pitching and Ian Cherico finished. A great defensive plays was Danny Jubert to Chase Ford. 'Minor' Softball Heat 10, Racers 8 Maria Frascatore, Lauren Downen, and Jenna Patterson combined for four hits as the Heat staved off a furious comeback by the Racers. The Racers scored six runs in the final two innings and almost tied the game before it was called on account of darkness. Pitchers Jessica Strauss and Ashley Decker combined for seven strikeouts. |
