St. Christopher's JV soccer team defeated SS. Peter & Paul, 3-2, on Sunday, April 29. After a scoreless first half, the offense came alive in the second half. Natalie Reesor's two goals and strong play from Alec Cowe and Cameron Sedia led the SSPP offense. Tied at 2-2, St. Christopher's scored on a late goal for their victory. Strong games were also played by Allison McKenna, Madalyn Mueller and Gabe Lopez. SSPP goalie Anthony Podgorsak was tough in the first half. The Mathewson McCarthy Marines 12U Travel team fell to the WNY Stars Sunday afternoon, 11-4, in a 12U Clarence Travel league game. In their first game together, the Marines held their own through five innings on the strength of fine pitching from Devin Stives and Adam Panfil, both going two innings each and combining for seven strikeouts. Tommy Klein provided the big blow in the first inning with a tremendous home run blast easily clearing the left field fence. Klein added two more hits and scored three of the Marines' four runs. Solid performances were added by Peter Moran and Jordan Honsberger with a hit a piece and stellar defense in the field. |
