South modified girls lacrosse splits games Williamsville South's modified girls lacrosse team went 2-2 last week. South started the week with a 7-5 win over Elmwood Franklin on Monday, April 30. The Billies got on the scoreboard first when Taylor Stone passed to Melissa Suszynski for her first goal of the season. Ali Ferenczy, Kevinah Dargan and Stone each scored a goal to make the score, 4-3, at halftime. Early in the second half, Ferenczy assisted on Haley Rubino's goal. Shannon Martin and Stone scored South's final goals. Kara Pomeroy played excellent defense. Rubino was the team's offensive star. On Tuesday, May 1, South lost to Clarence, 7-3. Stone assisted Shannon Keilich to tie the game at 1-1 11:47 into the first half. Ferenczy scored to make it 2-2 at halftime. Clarence proved strong in the second half with five goals. Rubino netted South's final goal. Ali Brace was the team's defensive star and Keilich was offensive star. Joslin Downey made eight saves in net. The next day, South fell to Williamsville North, 7-4. Goals by Keilich (Ferenczy) and Callie Bridge (Pomeroy) made it 3-2 at halftime. Ferenczy, the team's offensive player of the game, scored twice in the second half. Liz Malinowski was South's defensive player of the game. South closed out the week with a 9-2 victory over Sweet Home on Saturday, May 5. Stone, Ferenczy, and Keilich each scored twice. Additional goals were scored by Jessica Utech, Rubino and Martin. Stone was offensive player of the game and Ali Leonard was defensive player of the game. |
