Sacred Heart blanks Immaculata Sacred Heart softball improved to 3-0 in the Monsignor Martin Association and 4-1 overall after shutting out Immaculata, 5-0, on Tuesday, May 1. Sharks pitcher Erica Comisso had a no-hitter through five innings before allowing an infield single in the sixth. Her other hit allowed came on a single in the seventh but the runner was eventually forced out in a double play. Comisso struck out eight batters. Immaculata's pitcher also had a no-hitter until the fifth but it was broken up by a Brieanna Brink double. Pinch-hitter Allison Gravelle doubled home Brink. The Sharks scored four runs in the sixth. Rachel Bradley and Katie Salisbury singled, Lindsay Macaluso walked and an Alison Pyszczynski double drove in Bradley and Salisbury. Comisso brought home Macaluso and Pyszczynski with a two-RBI single. The rest of Sacred Heart's schedule is at Nichols and O'Hara on Thursday and Friday, respectively, and games with Holy Angels (May 14), Mount St. Mary's (May 17), Alden (May 21), Niagara Catholic (May 22) and Nardin (May 24). |
