Piano students of Mary Handley won an unprecedented seven gold medals at the recent Stamford Kiwanis Music Festival in Niagara Falls, Ont.
In addition to the seven gold medals, there were three second- place awards and nine third- place awards among Handley's students.
Johanna Fritzinger won the first-place gold medal in the Grade 5 Contemporary Pieces class and third place in the Grade 5 Etudes Class. She is the daughter of Amy and Bill Fritzinger of Williamsville.
Griffin Kramer was awarded the first-place gold medal in the Grade 9 Classical Era Class, third place in the Chopin Nocturne Class and third place in the Grade 9 Contemporary Composers Class. He is the son of Lisa Ludwig and Randy Kramer of Snyder.
Rohanna Sinha won the first-place gold medal for the Grade 6 Classical Era Class. Keelan Sinha received first-class honors in the Grade 2 Class. They are the children of Ravi and Catherine Sinha of Amherst.
Joe Isom was awarded second place in the Grade 9 Contemporary Composers Class. He is the son of Joe and Mary Jo Isom of Williamsville.
Dan Kim was awarded second place in the Grade 9 Contemporary Pieces Class and third place in the Grade 9 Etudes Class. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Sam Kim of Williamsville.
Niel Sielski was awarded first-class honors in the Grade 7 Studies Class. He is the son of Claudia and Ed Sielski of Williamsville.
