Modified girls lacrosse
South beats Amherst, loses to North

Williamsville South's modified girls lacrosse team defeated a rival and saw its win streak end all in one week.

On Tuesday, April 24, South faced cross town rival Amherst and came out on top, 9-5. Taylor Stone scored four goals to lead South. Ali Ferenczy and Shannon Martin each added two goals and Francesca Cutrona had the final goal in the Lady Billies' victory.

South goalie Joslin Downey made eight saves. Lisanne Sprague played outstanding defense for the Lady Billies. Martin was the team's offensive player of the game.

The next day, Williamsville North handed South its first loss of the season, 7-4.

Stone and Ferenczy scored two goals each. Cutrona was the defensive player of the game for South and Ferenczy was offensive player. Kevinah Dargan provided non-stop hustle to earn rookie player of the game honors.

South tried to fit one more game in last week playing Williamsville East on Thursday, April 26, but the game was called because of severe weather. It was a rather even match when the game was called, with East ahead, 4-3. Stone scored all three of South's goals. Elizabeth Malinowski played great defense.

South played Elmwood Franklin on Monday, April 30 but results were unavailable before The Bee went to press.
