Sister Mary Vianney O'Loughlin OSF, religious education teacher

Sister Mary Vianney O'Loughlin, 89, a religious education teacher for over 50 years, died Sunday, April 22, 2007, in St. Mary of the Angels Health Care Center.

A member of the Sisters of St. Francis and former Franciscan Missionary Sister of the Divine Child, she was a Franciscan woman religious for almost 70 years.

Born in Kenmore, the former Agnes O'Loughlin entered the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Divine Child in 1937.

Sister O'Loughlin was an expert in teaching religious education to rural and urban children who attended public schools. She taught in the rural missions, including Mayville, Jamestown, Batavia, and Belmont, as well as the former St. Augustine Mission in Buffalo and St. John Maron's in Williamsville.

Sister O'Loughlin also did home visitation in Buffalo, Auburn, Rochester, Brooklyn and Crystal City, Texas. Most recently, her ministry was one of prayer while residing in the Health Care Center at St. Mary of the Angels in Williamsville.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Friday, April 27 in the Chapel of St. Mary of the Angels.
