Amherst men win senior pool tourney

The Amherst Senior Center Men's Pool League defeated pool leagues from Schiller Park Senior Center in Buffalo, the Cheektowaga Senior Center and the Orchard Park Senior Center to win the 2007 local Men's Senior Center Pool Championship.

Amherst Pool League members received trophies at an awards banquet April 19 at the Schiller Park Senior Center.

The Amherst league plays once a week from September through March at various senior centers. Every year it competes in playoffs and a championship.

All members, male and female, of the Amherst Senior Center can play pool at the center. Any Amherst resident age 55 and older, or the spouse of that resident, can join the Amherst Senior Center for a lifetime membership fee of $25.

The center is at 370 John James Audubon Parkway, directly behind Amherst Police Headquarters and the Amherst Main Library.
