St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute names 'Man of the Year'

Rick Neumeister
St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Alumni Association has named East Amherst resident Rick Neumeister, class of 1969, Man of the Year in recognition of his outstanding service to St. Joe's.

The award presentation was held at the St. Joe's Father-Son Mass and Breakfast on Sunday.

St. Joe's Man of the Year is given to someone who has demonstrated a commitment to St. Joe's and an involvement that is indicative of service to the school, the alumni association and the larger St. Joe's community.

Neumeister, who was elected senior class president by his St. Joe's classmates, graduated from the University at Buffalo in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history.

While at St. Joe's, he played on the freshman basketball team and two years on the football team. He also played intramurals, joined the drama club, appeared in plays and the annual school musical, was a four-year member of the student council and chaired the social committee his senior year.

His alumni involvement began in 1980 when he joined the newly created Alumni Board that would begin to sponsor events targeted to bring alumni back to the school. He was involved with the beginning stages of the Signum Fidei Society Committee. Neumeister served on the St. Joe's Board of Trustees from 1998 to 2004. He was also a member of this year's Lasallian Auction Committee and is the co-chairman of this year's St. Joe's Annual Fund.

He works in sales and marketing, specializing in the consumer package goods industry.

He and his wife, Diane, have five children and reside in East Amherst. His stepson, Connor Roat, is a sophomore at St. Joe's.
