.I find it very interesting that Amherst Supervisor Satish Mohan is complaining that the town is unable to address drainage issues properly, responsibly and timely. It should also be noted that one of the neighborhoods which he is complaining about that has not had its drainage problems addressed is his own personal neighborhood. Someone should look into that and investigate why people build all over Amherst in floodplains.

.We live near Heim Middle School and, just like last year, the goose droppings are starting to pile up all over the school yard. Is there anything the district can do to prevent this? Perhaps look into a bird dog or something to help keep the goose droppings from the yard.

.As suggested, I started watching town vehicles. They sure spend a lot of time parked. It's time to make town workers accountable.

.The air in the Millersport/Maple area will not be fit to breathe this summer. Benderson will be digging up all that lead-filled soil at the old shooting club. And some people still insist on using those cancer-causing pesticide sprays. Thanks to all who had the common sense to change over to non-pesticide lawn sprays.

.I must say I was very pleased to read the 2007 Spotlight on Business in Amherst. I'm new to Buffalo and live in the heart of the village. My husband and I love to walk and shop in the many shops available on Main Street. The little ads included some history of families who have been in business for three generations. I say kudos to Amherst for being able to support and maintain family businesses!

.As an almost 40-year resident of Dana Heights, I agree. We do need electric street lights. However, because of the lack of civic responsibility on the part of many of our recent citizens, we also need the garbage totes. I wish more people would be civic-minded and show some concern for keeping our street clean, free of loose garbage.

.Two hundred twenty-five dollars to grind a tree stump is highway robbery! Put it out to bid and it will come in much lower than that. I can't believe all this tree stump grinding is being held up because of this high bid. Unbelievable!

.I'm hoping people will have patience when it comes to dealing with these storm-damaged trees. Wait and see what leaves they have. I've noticed on some streets the trees have an orange ribbon around them; I notice one street in particular, Culpepper, has almost every tree taped. I hope these people wait and see what's going to happen with the trees. I love the trees, but I don't want people to waste money on something that does not have to be replaced.
