Student's threat evacuates school

Amherst Police determined a 14-year-old male student at Williamsville South High School was responsible for writing a "threatening note" that caused the evacuation of the school shortly before noon Tuesday.

Through questioning, the youth was determined to be the person who wrote the note. He is charged as a juvenile and his name is not being released. Amherst Family Court will handle the case.

The approximately 1,000 students were bused to Mill Middle School as a precaution. Students returned to the high school at about 1:30 p.m.
