Toastmasters hosts meeting on speaking skills

The Speak for Success Club, a chapter of Toastmasters International, will meet from 11:55 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 16 in the auditorium of Calspan Corp., 4455 Genesee St., Buffalo. Ken Dengo to speak at next BNI meeting

Ken Dengo, owner of Ken Dengo's Heating and Cooling, will be the keynote speaker at BNI's next meeting at 7 a.m. Friday, May 4 at the Millennium Hotel, 2040 Walden Ave., Cheektowaga. BNI is a business and professional networking organization whose primary purpose is to exchange qualified business referrals. Dengo will discuss what every consumer should know about air conditioning, including how to make the summer months more comfor table.

Seminar to look at running a business

SCORE of Buffalo Niagara will hold a seminar on starting and managing a business from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 23 in the Lackawanna Public Library, 560 Ridge Road. The workshop is a must for people starting new businesses to learn all the elements of business management needed for success. It is also helpful for business people who might be experiencing problems or want to fine-tune their operations for greater efficiency and success. Speakers will discuss marketing research, marketing, business planning, insurance, federal and state taxes, legal structures, government resources, financing and counseling.
