After being snowed out of a match with Holy Angels on Monday, April 16, Sacred Heart opened its home Monsignor Martin Association girls tennis season in fine fashion with a 5-0 win over St. Mary's of Lancaster on Wednesday, April 18 at Clearfield. They followed with another 5-0 home victory over Mount St. Mary's on Friday, April 20.
Sacred Heart did not drop a set in either match as singles players Kristen Fish, Kathryn Przybyla and Courtney Conway won convincingly. Deb Matteliano and Emily Rogers teamed at first doubles for a great win as did Ashley Illuzzi and Margo Casciano at second doubles.
Other fine efforts included exhibition wins by Nora Balon, Kelly Mroz, Katie Ostrander and Mary Beth Pandolfino.
"It was a total team effort in both victories," said Sharks coach Steve Insinna.
Sacred Heart (2-0) travels to face Nardin on Wednesday, April 25 and hopes to make up the snowed out Holy Angels match at home on Friday, April 27. Both matches start at 4 p.m.
