North routs Jamestown, prepares for tough league foes
by PATRICK J. NAGY Reporter

Williamsville North geared up for one of its biggest weeks all season with a convincing 16-1 win at Jamestown on Thursday, April 19.

North (3-2) hosts Lancaster and Niagara Wheatfield at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 25 and Thursday, April 27. They hosted West Seneca West on Monday, April 23, but results were unavailable before The Bee went to press.

North coach Matt Smart said everyone contributed in the Jamestown win, including freshmen Craig Pettit (goal) and Robert Golightly (two assists).

Eleven other Spartans scored a point and another eight scored at least one goal. Evan Bryant led with two goals and three assists. Mike Jaszka had three goals and one assist. Pat Mulvihill (goal, two assists) and Brent Rickan (three goals) each had three points.

Matt Dindurski and Nick Hereth each scored twice. Rob Pekarski and Jon Benamoz scored a goal.

Joe Greenwald had two assists. Rob Wilcox and Nick Stalker each had one helper.

Pat Stasio only needed to make four saves.

North led 12-0 at halftime and outshot Jamestown for the game, 45-11. They also scooped up 41 ground balls to 13 for the Red Raiders. Stalker led the team with six ground balls.

"The ball movement was awesome," said Smart. "We cleared and transitioned well."

Despite the lopsided win, Smart saw room for improvement.

"We still didn't play four quarters which upset me," he said. "I'm still waiting for the guys to put four full quarters together and I don't want to wait until sectionals. We need to do that now."

In another North lacrosse matter: the team will host a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 28 in the first floor North cafeteria. Tickets are $6.
