Michael Lobascio, metallurgist

Lobascio
Michael Lobascio, 85, of Amherst, a retired metallurgist, died Sunday, April 22, 2007, in the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Cheektowaga.

The Buffalo native was a graduate of Hutchinson Central High School and a received a degree in metallurgy from Eric Community College.

Mr. Lobascio served as an aircraft mechanic in the Army during World War II.

He worked as a metallurgist at Gibralter Steel for more than 10 years, retiring in 1985.

Prior to that, he worked at Bell Aerospace from 1950 until the mid-1970s.

He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hockey, football and was an avid Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills fan.

Mr. Lobascio is survived by his wife of 43 years, the former Mary R. Cianciosa; two daughters, Debra Bauman of Amherst and Pamela Fisher of Cheektowaga; a sister, Josephine of France; a brother, Louis of Rochester; and four grandchildren.

Prayers will be said at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 25 at Amigone Funeral Home, 5200 Sheridan Dr., Amherst, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 a.m. in St. Leo the Great Church, 885 Sweet Home Road, Amherst.
