Preliminary Amherst Idol competition set

A preliminary round of the Amherst Teen Idol search will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 5 at the Boulevard Mall Food Court.

The contest is open to youths ages 12 to 20 years. Soloists must be prepared to sing a cappella at the preliminary round.

Fifteen finalists will be chosen to compete in a final round that will take place on June 8.

Finalists will compete for a Boulevard Mall gift certificate and an Amherst Teen Idol trophy.

A Boulevard Mall gift certificate and second-place trophy will be awarded to the runner-up at the final round in June.

Contestants will be asked to sing a song of their choice that is up to two minutes in length.

The Amherst Teen Idol contest is sponsored by the Boulevard Mall, the Williamsville Lions Club, the Amherst Youth Foundation and the Amherst Youth Board.
