The Irishman Pub and Eatery opens

The Irishman Pub and Eatery opened April 16 at 5601 Main St. near Mill Street in Williamsville.

"I'm very excited to introduce The Irishman," said Gene O'Donovan, president and founder. "Our goal is to build an upscale neighborhood Pub and Restaurant with an Irish theme."

Executive Chef is Nicholas Caggiano, a Buffalo native with experience both locally, nationally and internationally. He was executive chef at Longfellows Restaurant in Buffalo and Brierwood Country Club in Hamburg, and sous chef at Boca West Country Club in Florida.

Caggiano also traveled the world for two years as executive chef on publisher Steve Forbes' yacht, preparing gourmet meals for many world leaders and dignitaries.

The décor features an upscale Irish theme with references to Irish culture and history. It features wood furniture, a fireplace and stained glass windows.

"Building a pub/restaurant with an Irish theme is a great thrill for me personally" said O'Donovan, a native of Ireland. "And we worked very hard to reflect the warmth and friendly nature for which Ireland and Irish people are known."

The Irishman will be open Monday through Saturday for lunch, dinner and late-night cocktails and dining. Sunday will be reserved for private functions. Takeout and catering is also available. The phone number is 626-2670.
