Veterans job fair
to be held

Veterans Affairs Western New York Healthcare System's vocational rehabilitation department will hold a veterans job fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m Friday, May 4 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, 3495 Bailey Ave., Buffalo. The event will include information on programs and community resources for disabled veterans and returning Operation Iraqi Freedom/Enduring Freedom veterans covering veterans benefits, Social Security and the Department of Labor. More than 15 employers from Western New York will also be present, and help will be provided on preparing resumes and online employment applications. Everywoman awards slated

Everywoman Opportunity Center will honor four outstanding women of Western New York, three with its Award of Excellence and a fourth with the 2007 Elizabeth B. Hopkins Alumna Award. The presentations will be made at its 23rd annual awards dinner and 30th anniversary celebration at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 3 in the Venetian Room at Salvatore's Italian Gardens, 6461 Transit Road, Depew. Lecture on wills to be held

The Jewish Genealogical Society of Buffalo is sponsoring a lecture at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 29 in the Lippman Lounge at the Jewish Community Center, Benderson Building, 2640 North Forest Road, Getzville. "Wills and Probate in Erie County" is a talk given by Dick Moutton, supervisor of the Records Room, Surrogate Court, Will and Probate Division, at Erie County Hall. His presentation will include information on his department, including samples of wills and how they can be used for genealogical research. A question-and-answer period will follow. R.S.V.P.
