Catholic Charities will present the workshop "Domestic Violence: Working for Change" from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Aril 23 and Tuesday, April 24 at Samuel's Grande Manor, 8750 Main Street in Clarence.

The workshop will feature a professional development and training conference that attracts renowned experts to explore strategies for ending domestic violence.

The event will feature Arun Gandhi, grandson of India's Mohandas Gandhi, as its keynote speaker, as well as professor Sarah Buel of the University of Texas School of Law.

Also featured during the event will be Ben Atherton-Zerman, national spokesperson for the National Organization for Men Against Sexism.

"This conference is just one example of how Catholic Charities works to improve the lives of more than 160,000 of our neighbors in Western New York," said the Rev. Joseph Sicari of Catholic Charities.

"Catholic Charities is proud to not only serve individuals and families but also address serious community-wide issues like domestic violence," he said.

International, national and local trainers are sought to present the most current material on domestic violence.

This conference will emphasize social change and strategies for ending domestic violence, messages for men about ending men's violence against women, victim services and the tactics of batterers.

Other speakers will include Connie Neal of the New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence; Suzanne Tomkins of the University at Buffalo Family Violence Clinic; and Katherine Cerulli, director of the Laboratory of Interpersonal Violence and Victimization.
